Born on February 24, 1965, is a former professional kickboxer and MMA fighter from the Netherlands. Ryutten is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion and three-time Pancrase Champion. During his career, Ryutten has defeated UFC champions Frank Shamrock, Kevin Randleman, Maurice Smith, Guy Mezger, as well as Pancrase champions Masakatsu Funaki and Minoru Suzuki. In addition, he ended his career with a 22-match unbeaten streak (21 wins and 1 draw).
Bas Ryutten's favorite trick was to attack the liver with both his hand and foot. Using it successfully, he popularized such strikes.
Despite his impressive roster of in-ring achievements, Ryutten gained even more popularity after his retirement as a commentator for PRIDE and then Strikeforce. What distinguishes Ryutten from other commentators is his deep knowledge of sports, outstanding charisma and a brilliant sense of humor.
