April 14, 1917 - November 13, 1998 - British actress 1940s and 1950s.
In 1935 she appeared as Baroness Frankenstein in Bride of Frankenstein, opposite Boris Karloff and Colin Clive, replacing actress May Clarke. Hobson also starred in The London Werewolf .
In the second half of the 1940s, the most memorable roles were the roles of Estella in the movie Great Expectations and Edith in the black comedy of 1949 Kind Hearts and Crowns .
In 1952, Valerie divorced her first husband, Sir Anthony Havelock-Allan, and married Secretary of War John Dennis Profumo in 1954. She had three sons from two husbands, Anthony, Mark and David. Hobson's last major role was in the original production of the musical The King and I.
Valerie Hobson died of a heart attack on November 13, 1998 in London's Westminster borough.
