Born September 25, 1979, Niagara Falls, New York, USA - American mixed-style fighter.
Fighting for Niagara-Wheatfield High School from Sanborne, New York, Evans made it to the NYS Finals twice, winning his weight class for his district. In 1997, he was ranked 4th at 145 pounds, and a year later, in 1998, also 4th at 171. In 1999, he entered the National Junior College Athletic Association and finished 4th in the 165lbs Association Championship. Performing again in this tournament in 2000, he became the champion in the 165lb class. Moving to the NCAA First Division of Wrestling, Evans competed for Michigan in the Big Ten Conference (the oldest conference in the US Collegiate Sports Division 1. The conference currently includes 12 universities located mostly in the Midwest, from Nebraska in the west to Pennsylvania in the east). In 2002, he finished the conference championship in 4th place, losing by decision to Jacob Volkmann in the third place match. In 2003, Evans competed again at 174 lbs, winning 3rd place in the Big Ten Conference. Coming to third place in the NCAA First Division, Evans won his opening match, eventually losing to future national champion Robbie Waller. In the next bout, he defeated the legendary Greg Jones, three-time National Champion, who ended his NCAA career with a 126-4 record. Evans won the match by a 3-2 decision, becoming one of 4 people to defeat Jones in his NCAA career. Evans lost his next match, which would qualify him for All-America status (Team All-America is an honorary team from any American sports college, consisting of outstanding amateur players, considered the best players of a certain season for each team), in an equal fight with a decision judges 3-2, and ended his career in association. He ended his career in Michigan with a record of 48 wins and 34 losses.
