Born May 30, 1962, Chicago is an American actress and singer.
Graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. After she went to New York, where she made her debut on the stage. In New York, she combined a theatrical career with a role in the daytime soap How the World Turns, where she filmed from 1983 to 1986. In 1991, she joined the soap opera All My Children, playing the role of Livia Frey. She played this role on a regular basis from 1991 to 1995, and then periodically returned to the show from 2003 to 2009. In 1995, she co-starred in the short-lived syndicated medical drama University Hospital, and in the 2000s, she appeared with guest roles in The Protector, Criminal Minds, Law & Order, and Snoop. In 2009, Pinkins had minor roles in the TV series 24 Hours and Army Wives.
Pinkins has played numerous roles on theater stages including Broadway, Off Broadway, regional theaters and the Royal National Theater in London. Her greatest success can be considered a role in the musical Caroline, or Change, with which she performed on both sides of the ocean from 2003 to 2007. She then appeared in the Broadway plays Radio Golf and A Time to Kill, and returned to her musical roots in 2014 with a role in Holler If Ya Hear Me. In 2015, she took the lead role in the play Rasheeda Speaking directed by Cynthia Nixon.
Over the years, Pinkins played supporting roles in Beat Street (1984), See Nothing, Hear Nothing (1989), Above the Ring (1994), Enchanted (2007) and Under the Mask gigolo "(2013).
