Born October 19, 1974, Clawson, Michigan, USA - American film director, screenwriter, producer and editor.
Studied the art of film at Florida State University, then moved to California and started shooting trailers. In 2002 he directed the short film The Virgin.
In 2010, he worked as video editor for the 82nd Oscar awards ceremony.
The 2010 American Party Myth debuted feature-length film, which won the Special Jury Prize at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas, the Grand Jury Prize at the Deauville American Film Festival and the American Indie Newcomer prize at the Munich Film Festival. The next film, It, garnered attention in Critics Week at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.
"It" is a horror film based on the story of a curse transmitted through sexual intercourse. "The Telegraph" has included the tape among the 50 best horror movies of all time.
In 2015, Mitchell was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Director for It.
In 2018, Mitchell's film "Under Silver Lake" was selected for the main competition of the Cannes Film Festival.
