He graduated from the College of Art and Design with a degree in sculpture. Gunn - asexual.
Since 1982, Gann has worked at Parsons The New School for Design. From 1989 to 2000, he served as dean, after which he headed this institution. In 2007 Gann joined Liz Claiborne, Inc. as Creative Director
Since 2004 Tim Gunn has been co-host of Heidi Klum and mentor of the participants in the popular reality show Project Runway. In 2007 he launched his own program, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style .
Gunn has appeared in episodes of the series Ugly Betty, Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother, Sex and the City 2, The Smurfs and others.
