October 16, 1923 - April 10, 1965 - American actress.
Born into the family of Calvin Darnell and Pearl Brown. In total, the spouses had four children, and Darnell's mother had two more children from a previous marriage. The mother of the future actress always wanted her daughter to work in the entertainment industry, and was sure that only she of all her children had talent. Her career began in childhood - from the age of 11 she worked as a model, and from the age of 13 she began to play on the stage. Soon she was noticed by one of the Hollywood agents and invited to Los Angeles, but there it was discovered that Darnell had lied about her age and was sent home. In 1939 she returned to Hollywood and her career began to develop rapidly. She soon appeared in such films as "Blood and Sand" (1941), "Bernadette's Song" (1943), "Buffalo Bill" (1944) and others.
She achieved her greatest success towards the end of the 1940s, after appearing in the films Amber Forever (1947), Only Yours (1948), and Letter to Three Wives (1949). Despite her successful career and many notable, well-known roles, the actress has never been a nominee or a laureate of any film awards, which greatly affected her future career. Due to alcoholism and being overweight, since the early 1950s, Linda almost stopped acting.
