Born in Atlanta to Charlotte and Laurent McCune. James is the youngest of three children in the family. He began his acting career at school, where he regularly participated in various school performances and concerts. After graduating from high school, James began working in the theater, appeared in various performances and musicals.
Since 2010, McCune began acting on television. At first, James only starred in commercials and low-budget films, but in 2011 he was offered a small role in the second season of the popular TV series The Walking Dead.
