Born August 20, 1982, Belfast - Northern Irish actress.
Donnelly attended Ratmore Grammar School in Belfast, where she spent her childhood. She then moved to Glasgow to study at the Royal Conservatory of Scotland. After graduating from the Conservatory in 2004, she had several roles in theaters in Ireland and Scotland. She later moved to London, where she began her television career.
Donnelly starred in Insatiable (2008) and also appeared in Fear (2009) as Abby. In the biopic Best: His Mother's Son about George Best, in which she played Barbara, Best's sister.
Donnelly made her television debut in 2005 on the Channel 4 television series Sweet Feelings, in which she played the main character's love interest in two episodes. She also appeared in supporting roles in television series such as Catastrophe, The Witch, and The Lost. In 2014, she landed the role of Janet (Jenny) Fraser Murray on the Starz television series Outlander .
In October and November 2012, she starred in Jez Butterworth's new play The River at the Royal Court Theater; Dominic West and Miranda Raison were also involved in the production. From October 2014 to February 2015, Donnelly reprized her role in the play in the Broadway production of the play, which also starred Hugh Jackman.
Donnelly dated the backing vocalist of the Northern Irish group Snow Patrol Nathan Connolly.
