1906-2006 - American director with more than 50 films.
Born into a Jewish family. Graduated from college, worked as an actor, screenwriter. In 1939 he made his first horror film, The Return of Doctor X.
In the 1950s, Sherman's creative work in the cinema was suspended due to the "witch hunt" announced by Senator Joseph McCarthy. They were kicked out of the film companies because of anti-communist hysteria, which in many ways took the form of anti-Semitic persecution, because Sherman was not a member of leftist organizations. Sherman was forced to leave to work on television, where he filmed television series.
