Born June 10, 1932, Osijek is a Croatian producer and actor
He began his film career as an assistant director at the film production company Jadran Film in Zagreb. In 1956 he worked as the director of the film “Do not turn around, son” (Ne okreci se sine), a worthy drama about the Second World War. In the 1980s, Lustig worked on the short series Firestorm and the sequel Firestorm and Ash. In the same year he came to the USA.
In 1994, he was the first Croat to win the Academy Award for Best Picture for Schindler's List. For the same film, he was awarded the Golden Globe. In 2001, he received a second Oscar and Golden Globe for Gladiator. Branko Lustig is the only Croat to have been awarded an Oscar twice. He has worked as a producer or executive producer on The Peacemaker (1997), Hannibal Barka (2001) and Black Hawk Down (2001).
