Jim Abrahams - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips, Writer, Director, Producer, Actor.

Born May 10, 1944, Shorewood, Wisconsin, USA - American screenwriter, director, producer and actor.

Studied at the University of Wisconsin, where he met brothers David and Jerry Zucker. In 1969, together with them, he created the Kentucky Fried Theater in Madison, where the trio created parody and satirical sketches and revues. The creative trio soon moved to Los Angeles, where they directed the comedy The Kentucky Solyanka (1977), entrusting John Landis to direct their first film. The film was an unexpectedly great success, which allowed the creative union to gain a foothold in Hollywood and receive carte blanche for the creation of subsequent comedies.

Like his partners, Jim Abrahams began his solo career in the mid-1980s, directing Big Business (1988) and executive producer of John Waters' film Crybaby (1990).

His greatest solo success was directed by two parts of the acclaimed classic of the Hotheads parody genre, which had tremendous financial success, comparable to the success of the best works he created in collaboration with the Zuckers. The last time Abrahams directed as a director was in 1998, filming the comedy "Mafia!", Filling the plot of the trilogy "The Godfather" with rude absurd humor. However, this film did not achieve such a resounding success as the previous films of the recognized comedy classic.

Jim Abrahams in 1981 was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Screenplay for Airplane! (shared with the Zucker brothers), and won the Screenwriters Society of America Award for Best Screenplay.

In 1982 he was nominated for an Emmy for Best Screenplay for a Television Series ("Police Force!").

In 1989, together with the Zucker brothers, he was named Comedy of the Year for The Naked Gun.

In 2004 he received an award at the Comedy Festival for his contribution to the genre.
