Exarcopoulos grew up in the 19th arrondissement of Paris near the Place de Fet. Her father Didier Exarchopoulos is a guitar teacher and her mother Marina Nick is a nurse. Adele has two younger brothers. The actress's grandfather was Greek.
Exarcopoulos' parents, in order to overcome their daughter's shyness, sent her to acting courses at the age of nine. She attended them until 2005, when she made her film debut in the film "Martha". In 2006, she was spotted by an agent and starred in an episode of the French television series RIS, police scientifique. At thirteen, Exarchopoulos played a role in the film "Boxes" .
Exarchopoulos managed to star in the films Tearas from Timpelbach (2008), Roundup (2010), Scapegoat (2010), Zhino's Story (2011), White Square (2011), Parts of Myself (2012) and I Used to Be Darker (2013), before she had international success in the 2013 film Adele's Life, based on the 2010 French graphic novel Blue is the Warmest Color (Le Bleu est une couleur chaude). The film won the Palme d'Or at the 66th Cannes International Film Festival. The festival jury decided, along with director Abdellatif Keshish, to award the “Golden Bough” to the leading actors of the film Adele Exarchopoulos and Leia Seydoux, who became the only women, except for Jane Campion, to receive this award. Exarcopoulos is also the youngest ever to win the Palme d'Or.
