John Grisham - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips, Writer, Producer, Actor.

Born February 8, 1955, Jonesboro, Arkansas, USA - American writer, screenwriter, producer, actor, also politician, former lawyer.

Grisham started working in the nursery as a teenager, watering bushes for a dollar an hour without getting any inspiration from the work. At the age of 16, Grisham got a job as a plumber, but was still unhappy with lack of fulfillment.

Later he worked as an asphalt paver, seller of men's underwear, considering the latter humiliating. As a result, the future writer left this place and was halfway to college. Planned to become a tax lawyer, but then returned to town as a trial lawyer.

After graduating from the University of Mississippi Law School in 1981, Gruvemuvestart continued to practice law for nearly a decade in Southaven, specializing in criminal defense and health litigation. In 1983, he was elected to the House of Representatives, representing the seventh constituency that Desoto County joined, and served until 1990.

As Grisham's writing career flourished with the release of his second book, he gave up the practice of law, with one exception - in 1996, he fought for the rights of the family of a railroad worker who died on assignment.

One day in 1984, at the Soto County Courthouse, Grisham heard the heartbreaking testimony of a twelve-year-old girl who was the victim of a rape. The writer was intrigued by the story and began to study the case file. “The idea for the novel was born immediately,” he told the New York Times. Pondering what would have happened if the raped girl's father had killed the attackers, Grisham spent three years writing Time to Kill and finished it in 1987. The novel was initially rejected by 28 publishers, but the rights were eventually bought by Wynwood Press, which published the novel in 5,000 copies in June 1989. Perhaps such a modest response could have ended Grisham's writing career, but soon after the release of the first novel, he set to work on the second.

The second novel about an ambitious lawyer lured into a law firm hiding his true intentions, The Firm, published in 1991, became an unexpected bestseller, staying on the New York Times bestseller list for 47 weeks. The film rights were bought by Paramount for $ 600,000, after which a struggle broke out between publishers for the newly-minted popular author. As a result, the rights to the "Firm" were bought by the Doubleday publishing house.

The success of his subsequent novels, The Pelican Affair and The Client, confirmed Grisham's reputation as a master of the legal thriller genre. The success of his writing talent revived interest in his debut novel, which was reprinted.

Since 2001 Grisham has tried other genres.

In 2009, the first and so far the only collection of short stories by the writer, "Ford County", was published, which describes Ford County, Mississippi, already described in the novel "Time to Kill".

In 2010, Grisham begins the popular series of teenage detective stories about Theodore Boone, planning to educate children about serious things in a fun way. The author said that the further writing of the series was inspired by his daughter Shea, who, while working as a teacher, gave the book to children to read, after which several pupils expressed a desire to connect their life and career with jurisprudence. The series turns out to be popular and for 2015 there are five novels.
