Born on May 27, 1954, New York, USA - American physicist, specialist in astrophysics and cosmology.
Shortly after birth, he moved with his parents to Toronto, Canada, where he grew up. He received his BA in Mathematics and Physics from Carleton University. In 1982 he received his Ph.D. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1982-1985 he worked at Harvard, in 1985 he received the position of assistant professor at Yale University, and in 1988 - the position of associate professor there. In 1993, he was appointed Ambrose Suosi Professor of Physics, Professor of Astronomy and Head of Physics at Case Western Reserve University. He held his last position until 2005. During this period, he ranked his faculty among the top twenty in the United States according to the 2005 National University Research Program Ranking. The most significant innovations were the creation of the best experimental and theoretical programs in particle astrophysics in the United States and the introduction of groundbreaking master's programs in physical entrepreneurship. In 2002 he was also appointed director of the Center for Education and Research in Cosmology and Astrophysics. In August 2008, Krauss took over as Founding Professor of the School of Earth and Space Exploration and Emeritus Director of the Origins Project at Arizona State University.
