British film director, screenwriter and producer of film and television.

Entered Kezik Gymnasium in Kezik, Cumbria, England in the 1970s.

He studied fine arts at the University of Leeds and then went to work in theater.

After completing his directing course, he began his career as a television director with episodes of the BBC series "East Endians" and "Catastrophe". Schill conceived the idea for Ted and Alice for Granada TV, starring Don French.

He moved to the US and worked on many of the successful HBO shows, including The Sopranos, The Wire, Rome, Carnival, Deadwood and Big Love.

He directed the pilot for Showtime's The Tudors and worked as a regular director for the first season.

Schill has also directed many memorable cable episodes, including Law & Order, Night Stalker, Invasion, Woman President, Ambulance and West Wing.

Schill joined HBO's western drama Deadwood as the director for the first season in 2004. The series was created by David Milch and focused on a growing city in the American West. Schill directed the episode "These Shoes Are For Walking Only." He returned as a director for the second season in 2005 and also wrote the script for the episode. Schill directed the episode "New Money" and wrote and directed the episode "Something Very Expensive." Schill and the Writers were nominated for the Best Drama Series by the Writers Guild of the United States at a ceremony in February 2006 for their work on the second season.

He directed the feature film "Obsession" starring Idris Elba, Beyonce Knowles and Eli Larter. The film first launched in the United States in April 2009, grossing nearly $ 70 million at the box office and becoming Screen Gems' second highest grossing film.

In 2010, he directed the episode "Painkiller" of the first season of the legal drama series The Good Wife.

Schill has starred in The Last Temptation of Christ, Kinsey and Being Human.
In 2010, Shill received an Emmy Award for Best Director of a Drama Series for Dexter.
