As a child, Barbara danced professionally. After graduating from high school, she entered the Juilliard School.

The girl began her acting career at the age of 18 with filming in several New York television shows and soap operas.

In 2001, Barbara starred in the series Urban Stories. For her role in this series, the actress received a Gemini nomination.
