At the age of 13, Lawrence entered the Harrow School by family tradition. After graduating from school, he could not enter the university and worked as a gardener for 2 years. It was then that he realized that he liked to play on stage and he decided to continue his studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
During his studies at the academy, Lawrence took an active part in theatrical productions.
