Graduated from New York University. She made her stage debut in 2000 and has appeared in a number of other productions since then. She made her television debut in 2001, with a guest role in Sex and the City, and has since appeared in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Bones, Jericho, No Trace and Ambulance ".Gruvemuvestart
In 2007, Teizel received the NAACP Image Award for her leading role in the play I Have Before Me a Remarkable Document Given to Me By a Young Lady From Rwanda. Outside of television, she had a minor role in the 2004 film Secrets of the Past, and ten years later played the female lead in the romantic comedy Mr. Wright. In 2015, she starred with Lorraine Toussaint in Escape to the Island .
In 2016 Teizel starred in the miniseries Roots, a remake of the 1977 miniseries of the same name. She played the role of Matilda, played by Olivia Cole in the original series.
