Born in London in the family of an art critic. Her brother Desmond Jeans and sister Ursula Jeans were also actors. In her youth, she planned to become a singer, but in 1908, at the invitation of Herbert Beerbohm Three, she made her debut as an actress on the London stage. In the following years, her career developed actively, the actress played both on the West End and on Broadway. In 1917, Jeans first appeared on the screen, playing her first major roles in Alfred Hitchcock's silent films Down Slanted (1927) and Easy Behavior (1928). Since 1937, the actress worked in Hollywood, where she starred in the films "Comrade" (1937), "Suspicion" (1941), "Goo" (1958) and "Breath of Scandal" (1960) .
Isabelle Jeans has been married twice. In 1913, she married actor Claude Raines, who filed for divorce in 1918, accusing his wife of treason with Gilbert Edward Wakefield. At the trial, Jeans confirmed this, and two years later she married Wakefield, with whom she remained together until his death in 1963. Isabelle Jeans died in London in 1985 at the age of 93.
