Employee and CEO of Village Roadshow Pictures. The company has a successful general partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures, which makes a large-screen film, all of their films are distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. and in selected territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.
Under the flag of Village Roadshow Pictures, Bruce Berman is the executive producer of films such as Baz Luhrmann's successful box office The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire; Guy Ritchie's action-adventure "Sherlock Holmes" with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, starring its sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Play of Shadows; Sex and the City 2 starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Christine Davis; Ocean's Thirteen, with Brad Pitt and George Clooney; the well-received drama Gran Torino directed by Clint Eastwood, who also starred; blockbuster "I Am Legend" with Will Smith; and the Academy Award-winning animated adventure film Happy Feet by George Miller .
New films starring Bruce Berman will include George Miller's upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road; cartoon "LEGO"; the sci-fi thriller All You Got to Kill with Tom Cruise; and the Wachowski brothers' sci-fi adventure film Jupiter Rising .
Berman was appointed producer of Village Roadshow Pictures in February 1998. Previously, he spent 14 years at Warner Bros., which he joined in 1984 as Production Vice President and was later promoted to Senior Vice President of Production. In September 1989, he was named President of Theatrical Production, and 2 years later, World President of Theatrical Production. During his tenure at Warner Bros. he has produced many films including The Tornado, A Time to Kill, Batman Forever, The Fugitive, The Client, The Epidemic, Exposure, Dave, The Bodyguard, Under Siege, Malcolm X, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Nice Guys, Presumption of Innocence, and Best Picture Oscar winner Miss Daisy's Chauffeur. In May 1996, Berman took over as CEO of Plan B Entertainment. Berman graduated cum laude from the University of California in 1975 with a degree in US history. He also went to film school and Bennington College. Berman began his career in the film business working with Jack Valenti at the MPAA while he enrolled at Georgetown School of Law in Washington DC. After completing his law degree, he landed a job at Casablanca FilmWorks in 1978. Moving to Universal, he made his way to VP of Operations in 1982.
