Since childhood, the boy was fond of rock music, hip-hop and electronic music. At the age of 14, he decides to try his hand at DJ and hip-hop culture, taking the pseudonym Kid Rock. In 1990, Kid Rock recorded his debut album, Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast, which was unsuccessful. American radio stations refused to air songs full of obscene lyrics. But Rock doesn't give up and acts as an opening act for Ice Cube and Too $ hort. Later he moved to Brooklyn, where he recorded the next two albums "The Polyfuze Method" (1993) and "Fire It Up!" (1994) at Continuum Records, which also failed.

Since then, Kid Rock is working hard to launch his next LP, Early Mornin 'Stoned Pimp (1996), on his own Top Dog label. The action films Bawitdaba, Cowboy and the ballad Only God Knows Why became hits on radio and MTV. The album sold 11 million copies.

In 1999, Rock performs at the Woodstock-99 festival with such stars of nu-metal and rap metal as KoRn, Limp Bizkit.
