Born September 11, 1958 - American actress, director and television producer.
In 1980, having received a diploma from the University of California at Berkeley, the actress began performing in Broadway musicals. And she continued her acting career on television, taking on even the most insignificant roles.
In 1994, Dawson landed the role of engineer B'Elanna Torres in the television series Star Trek: Voyager, filming for which spanned seven years. For her work on the series, she was nominated three times for the American Latino Media Arts Award (1998-2000), and in 2001 she was finally honored.
In addition, the actress has appeared in the TV series Nightingales, Malibu Rescuers, Bloodhound, Matlock, The Untouchables, Any Day Now, Without a Trace, Lion's Lair, Divisions, in the American version of the British TV series Coupling and in the fantastic television series Seven Days. Dawson also voiced several episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise.
Continuing to star in Voyager, Dawson made her directorial debut on the television series Riddles, which was released in September 1999. She later continued her directing career, filming several episodes of Enterprise .
She also participated in the filming of the series Charmed, Lonely Hearts, Lost, Heroes, The Mentalist and others. In 2010 she directed several episodes of Lie to Me and the second season of The Good Wife.
Dawson has produced Investigation Jordan, Detective Rush, and Scandal .
Dawson tried her hand at writing in 1997. Her play Walking Through the Heart debuted at the University of Minnesota Duluth. She also co-authored with Daniel Graham a trilogy of science fiction novels - Entry into Tenebria (ISBN 0-671-03607-6), Hope of Tenebrea (ISBN 0-671-03609-2) and Rising Tenebrea "(ISBN 0-671-03611-4).
