She was born on March 30, 1994 in Saitama Prefecture. Took part in the audition of the 6th generation of AKV48 trainees. It was later announced that Haruka had been accepted into the group. In June 2011, the singer joined the new team "Team 4" .
In September 2012, Shimazaki starred in the film Gekijouban Shiritsu Bakaleya Koukou, based on the television series Shiritsu Bakaleya Koukou. In 2013, she became the face of the Japanese fashion magazine Smart. In 2015, she starred in the thriller Ghost Theater by Hideo Nakata, in which she played the main role.
