Born June 16, 1988 in Australia, but spent his childhood and adolescence in Texas, where he moved with his family. He attended St Andrew's Episcopal School in Austin and graduated in 2006. After attending the University of Southern California, Nathan moved to Los Angeles. He graduated from university with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Parsons is a member of Boom Kat, a non-profit dance theater based in Santa Monica. In his spare time, Nathan enjoys dancing, rock climbing, soccer, yoga and diving.
On television, the daytime series General Hospital became a significant project for Nathan. Initially, he auditioned for another role in this series and was refused, but later in 2009 he was invited to embody the image of the fraudster Ethan Lovett. He immediately got a regular role, and soon a contract until 2012, which he decided not to renew at the end of his term. However, in 2013 and 2015, he starred as Ethan in several more episodes of the television series. It was this role that earned him a 2012 Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category. The actor's next permanent work on TV was the role of James in the last season of True Blood, and in 2014 he began to play Jackson Kenner in the science fiction series The Originals, a spin-off of the popular television series The Vampire Diaries.
