Born May 13, 1957, Atlanta, Georgia is an American screenwriter, director and producer of film, television, and theater.
He attended Marietta High School and then attended the University of Georgia and the University of Florida, graduating in 1980 with a degree in theater arts. After graduating from college, he began working as a playwright at the General Nonsense Theater Company in Sarasota, Florida.
Ball began his television career as an editor and screenwriter for the sitcoms Grace on Fire and Sybil.
Ball wrote the screenplays for two films, American Beauty (1999) and Plain View (2007), the latter of which he also directed and produced.
Winner of Academy Awards, Emmy Awards and Awards from the Writers, Directors and Producers Guilds.
