Born August 14, 1956 - American actress, comedian and TV presenter, known for her roles in television sitcoms. Jackie became the first African American to win an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Comedy Series.
Harry was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and began her career in the theater scene, performing in Broadway musicals. In parallel, in 1983-85, she starred in the soap opera "Underworld" before becoming a sitcom actress. Jackie is best known for her role on the NBC sitcom "227" opposite Marla Gibbs from 1985 to 1989. For her performance on the show, she won an Emmy in 1987 and a Golden Globe nomination in 1989. During the filming of the sitcom, the tabloids discussed Harry's feud with Gibbs, as both actresses wanted to be the undisputed stars of the show. Years later, the actresses reconciled and collaborated on screen in other projects. In 1989, Jackie left the show for a role in her own show, which never saw life on air. Harry starred in the short-lived CBS sitcom The Royal Family (1991-92), and from 1994 to 1999 she played the ABC / The WB sitcom Sister Sister. In the following years, she had minor roles in the sitcoms Everyone Hates Chris, Let's Get Together and A Girl Knows the World.
