Born December 21, 1966 - American actress.
She graduated from Boston University in 1988, after which she went to the UK to continue her education at the Royal National Theater. She made her debut in 1989 with a minor role in Sudden Awakening, and in 1991 landed a recurring role in the daytime soap Underworld, where she starred over the next several years. In 1994, she left the show to pursue a prime-time career, and soon landed a role in the television series Undercover Cops, which was canceled after one season, and she returned briefly to the soap opera in 1995. The following year, she made her Broadway stage debut in Stephen Sondheim's production of Getting Away With Murder.
Heard has appeared in dozens of TV shows and films throughout her career. She rose to fame for her role as the tough detective Monique Jeffries in the first two seasons of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Her character was dropped from the show in 2001 due to the producers' desire to keep only one main character in the show, Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay. In 2001, she was invited to star in the Showtime series Leap Years, and after it closed, she was a guest on numerous series such as As Jim Said, Charmed and Bones .
Heard had minor roles in the series Ambulance in 2006-2007 and Gossip Girl in 2007-2008. In 2011-2013, she had a role in the series "90210: The New Generation." From 2010 to 2013, Heard played one of the main roles in the television series Swamps.
