Born September 10, 1968 is an American rapper who began his career in 1986 as a member of the rap group Juice Crew. He is considered one of the most skillful and most influential MCs in hip-hop. His creative pseudonym translates as "Big Daddy Kane", the rapper himself explained it this way: the first part of the name, "The Big Daddy", and the second part, "Kane", came from different sources. "Kane" has to do with my love of martial arts movies that I watched as a child. "The Big Daddy" is the name of the character played by Vincent Price in The Beach Party People. Rolling Stone magazine ranked his song "Ain't No Half-Steppin" at # 25 on the 50 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs of All Time, calling Kane "the verbal master of the end of rap's golden age and the man who made a huge impact on a generation of rappers." ...
