Born 1970 in Dundalk, Ireland - Irish director, screenwriter, producer and actor.

After graduation, Moore became a student at Dublin Institute of Technology. After graduating from high school, John, who received a degree in media arts, did not even think about making a career in film, but after a few years he radically changed his mind. Moore took up screenwriting and directed several short films in his native Ireland. Some of these works have been regularly shown on Irish television over the years.

Encouraged by success, the aspiring filmmaker founded his own company, Clingfilms.

Moore soon switched to production of commercials, one of which - the 1.5-minute film "Apocalypse", created in September 1999, dedicated to the "Sega Dreamcast" prefix - so impressed the management of the studio "20th Century Fox" that the young director was $ 17 million has been offered to create his first feature film, the 2001 Bosnian action movie Behind Enemy Lines, which was released in 2001.

Subsequently, the film's budget was increased to $ 40 million. Based on real events, the tape tells the story of the misadventures of a US naval navigator whose plane was shot down behind the front lines over Serb-controlled territory.

John Moore's debut on the big screen drew various reviews from critics, whose reviews were both positive and negative. The director himself later admitted that the picture turned out to be rather superficial, while the theme of war touched upon in it requires a deeper and more thoughtful approach.

Moore's next tape was the 2004 adventure thriller "Flight of the Phoenix", a remake of the 1965 tape of the same name, based on the novel by British writer Elleston Trevor. The film turned out to be a commercially disastrous project: with a budget of 45 million dollars, the box office of "Flight of the Phoenix" was just over 21 million.

But 20th Century Fox continued to collaborate with Moore, and his third film, the mystical thriller The Omen, which premiered on June 6, 2006, has finally more than paid for its production investment. The adaptation of the book by David Seltser with a budget of 25 million grossed about $ 120 million worldwide.

In 2008, Moore's fourth full-length film was released - a fantastic crime thriller "Max Payne", based on the cult computer game.

According to the established tradition, the opinions of film critics were diametrically opposed - from admiration to complete rejection, but the $ 85.5 million brought by the audience to the box office creating "Max Payne" tried to please the tastes of fans of the game as fully as possible.

Initially, the film was rated "R" by the American Film Association rating system (teenagers under 17 are allowed to film only with a parent or guardian), but Moore decided to cut several episodes from the film, after which the rating was changed to "PG- 13 ", which reduced the age limit to 13 years.
