March 3, 1920 - July 20, 2005 - Canadian actor, best known for his performance as Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the television series "Star Trek" and the subsequent seven feature films "Star Trek". The Scotsman, the chief engineer of the spacecraft Enterprise, played by James Doohan, was one of the most prominent characters in the Star Trek universe. Many of the character traits, demeanor and verbal expressions that the actor added to the image of Scotty and other characters in the TV series "Star Trek" have become entrenched in the everyday life of his American contemporaries.
