Born October 4, 1939, Besancon, France - French animator, writer and painter.

Initially, Lagioni wanted to be involved in theater, he worked on the creation of scenery and lighting. Participated in the creation of children's performances in the Chinese silhouette technique. From Paul Grimaud, whom he met during his studies thanks to his peer and friend Jacques Colombes, the director adopted some of the features of his future creative style and passion for animation. Strongly influenced by the Czech school of animation. From 1964 to 1972 he worked at the Grimaud studio on short animation.

In 1965 he directed the short animated film Mademoiselle and the Cellist. The cartoon won the Grand Prix at the Annecy Festival. In 1978 he was awarded the Palme d'Or in the Short Film category at the Cannes International Film Festival for the short film Traveling Across the Atlantic with Oars. The same cartoon received the Cesar Award for Best Animated Film of the Year. In 1979, Lagioni opened his own studio in Cevennes. In 1984 he created the studio "La fabrique", which he headed until 2000, began to act as a producer of his own and other people's full-length cartoons (among them a number of films by another major French animator Michel Oselot, a close friend of Lagioni).

Since 1984 Lagioni has directed several full-length cartoons: "Gwen, The Book of the Sands", "Castle of the Monkeys", "Blackmore Island" ...

In 1985 he finished filming his first feature film, Gwen, le livre de sable. End of time. An orphan girl was adopted into a nomadic tribe. The desert in which it lives is inhabited by giant copies of objects from the daily life of the former world, which have lost their purpose. Her friend is kidnapped. The heroine goes in search and encounters the inhabitants of the secret city, who have turned the attributes of everyday life of the past into objects of religious worship.

The director has been filming for television, at the same time performing the functions of an artist, artistic director, producer and art director.

Served as author and illustrator of books.

Lagioni created his films in the style of a dramatic performance. They are distinguished by colorful decorations, mysterious plots and lyricism, intimate intonation. The master's full-length cartoons have become more commercial in nature over time.
