July 14, 1911 London - January 8, 1990, Godalming, UK - British actor, producer and screenwriter.
He made his film debut in 1933. During the Second World War he served in the army. After 1945 he worked in television and radio. He was nominated in 1959 for the BAFTA award for his role in the film "Little Boy", and in 1964 - for the Golden Globe for his role in the film "Mouse on the Moon". In the late 1970s, he practically stopped acting due to Parkinson's disease. He spent most of his fortune on medical treatment and, shortly before his death, lived in poverty, subsisting on aid from the actors' charity. A charity event was held in his honor to raise enough funds to help him, and he spent the remaining years in a nursing home.
