Born February 1, 1968, Hull, Quebec, Canada is a Canadian film director and screenwriter.
Studied political science and international relations at the University of Ottawa (1985-1989), graduated with a silver medal. For two years he worked as a political analyst, then on Canadian radio and French television, and was a cameraman on the filming of documentaries. He himself, as a director, began with short documentaries, most often devoted to the problems of adaptation of immigrants in Quebec.
The first full-length feature film - the comedy "The Left Half of the Refrigerator" - was shown in 2000. His last work to date - a drama about a fifty-year-old immigrant from Algeria "Mr. Lazar" (2011) - won a number of national and international awards, was nominated for an Oscar "In the nomination" Best Foreign Language Film "(2012).
