Born April 9, 1965 - American supermodel, actress and writer of Czech descent.
In 1968, after the events of the Prague Spring and the subsequent entry of Soviet troops into Czechoslovakia, her parents left Czechoslovakia for Sweden, leaving their young daughter in the care of her grandmother. Polina herself managed to leave Czechoslovakia only seven years later with the assistance of the Swedish Prime Minister and public figure Olof Palme.
Polina began her modeling career in the 1980s in Paris. In 1984, when she was 18, she became the first Eastern European model to appear on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. In August 1987 she starred for the famous men's magazine "Playboy" .
After the birth of her second child (son) in 1993, Polina had to leave the modeling business and become a film actress. Her film career began in 1987, and in 1989 she was nominated for the Golden Raspberry anti-award for Worst Actress in Her Alibi. Porizkova starred with famous directors such as Emir Kusturica in 1993 in the movie "Arizona Dream" and with equally famous actors - Johnny Depp, Mickey Rourke, Rutger Hauer.
