February 12, 1939, Chicago - May 20, 2013, Rosenheim is an American musician, singer, producer, director, songwriter, co-founder and keyboardist of The Doors. One of the founders and members (1977-1978) of the Nite City group and the Manzarek – Krieger group (from 2001 to the end of his life). Ray and Jim Morrison moved in the same company, Ray knew Morrison as a poet, and Manzarek himself dreamed of his own group. According to legend, once on the beach, he said to Jim: "Let's create a group and make a million!" Gruvemuvestart Manzarek went down in history as one of the most brilliant experimenters in rock music. One of his inventions was the simultaneous playing of the Vox Continental electric organ and the Fender Rhodes Piano Bass electric bass, thanks to which The Doors did not use a bass player at concerts (however, they still invited a bassist to work in the studio). In addition, Ray Manzarek became famous for his filigree solo parts. The most famous of them were featured in the songs "Light My Fire" (1967) and "Riders on the Storm" (1971) .
On the band's first demo recordings, which date back to 1965, Manzarek was also the vocalist. After the death of The Doors vocalist Jim Morrison in 1971, Manzarek became the band's leader. Under his direction, The Doors recorded and released the albums Other Voices (1971) and Full Circle (1972), but neither of them reached the level of popularity of the band's previous albums. In 1972, Ray Manzarek took up a solo career: he played with Iggy Pop, was a producer for the bands Echo and the Bunnymen and X.
In 1983, Ray starred in a cameo role as an arms dealer in the crime comedy "Deal of the Century" directed by William Friedkin. Gruvemuvestart Ray Manzarek wrote his autobiography Light My Fire, describing his years with The Doors.
In 2000 he shot the feature film Love Her Madly.
During the Doors period, Ray was fond of meditation, did not use stimulants.
Played in the band "Riders on the storm" .
He performed in Moscow with Robert Krieger and Dave Brock on July 7, 2011 at Crocus City Hall and June 30, 2012 at Arena Moscow .
Ray Manzarek died at a clinic in Rosenheim, Germany from bile duct cancer on May 20, 2013 with his family at the age of 74.
