Born September 15, 1972 - English stand-up comedian and humorist.
Studied at Burnham High School and RGS School before joining Gonville & Caius College, one of the colleges of the University of Cambridge.
A former marketing executive for Shell Oil, James began his career as a comedian in 2000. Having earned a reputation as a stand-up comedy, Carr began appearing on various Channel 4 television shows and hosted 8 Out of 10 Cats. On Channel 4, Carr hosts the television games Distraction and Your Face or Mine? For his work as host of the game Distraction, the comedian was nominated for the 2006 Rose d'Or prize. He also hosted programs such as The 100 Worst Pop Records, The 100 Worst Britons, The 100 Greatest Cartoon Characters, The 100 People Most Like Jimmy Carr and The 100 Creepy Moments .
While working with his father at JC Productions, Carr made his first experimental short at the British film studio Pinewood, starring Craig Charles, Roy Dotrice and himself. His mock documentary is titled "The Color of Funny" .
In 2003, Carr appeared in the music video for the Christmas song "Proper Crimbo" from the comedy program "Get Out!" ("Bo 'Selecta"). He has appeared on the Edinburgh Festival Charm Offensive, which has resulted in five-star articles about him in four influential newspapers. Jimmy has announced that he plans to be the first comedian to appear in the online game "Second Life", a million-dollar 3D virtual world where anyone can live their second life.
Carr was ranked 13th in a 2007 online poll on Channel 4's Top 100 Greatest Stand-up Comedy Comedians. Carr currently lives in North London.
Some tabloids denounced Carr's joke about British soldiers who lost limbs in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Then the publications themselves came under a wave of criticism for the false statement, writing that the public reacted in jest with stunned silence. Jimmy himself considered his attack "absolutely acceptable", having a tendency to joke about people with disabilities and rape.
In March 2004, Carr's father, who owes himself his millions, was arrested by city police officers after Jim Carr and his brother Colin accused their father of stalking. Mr. Carr was acquitted of all charges, received a written apology from the Crown Prosecution Service and an apology from the London Police, and received monetary compensation for false arrest and false prosecution. During his speech on the BBC, Jimmy said that until he was 25 he was a Christian, and until 26 he remained a virgin because of his faith. When he became acquainted with the works of Richard Dawkins, he renounced the faith, becoming an atheist, claiming that religion restricts the freedom of people to live their own lives.
