Born February 12, 1953 - American actress, television director, screenwriter, and producer.
In the early seventies, she began performing on the stage, and in 1976 she married advertising producer Richard Kearns and changed her last name. Johanna Kearns made her screen debut in the 1976 movie New King Kong, after which she became a frequent guest on television, in such series as Rhoda, Charlie's Angels, Laverne and Shirley, Private Detective Magnum and Blues Hill Street. On the big screen, however, she rarely appeared and was mostly seen in the films Coma, Girl, Interrupted, and A Little Pregnant. Joanna Kearns is best known for her role in the long-running sitcom Growing Trouble, in which she starred from 1985 to 1992, throughout the show's broadcast. While filming the series, Kearns began to play leading roles in various television films, the number of which sometimes reached more than three a year, and until the late nineties starred in nearly twenty films. In the early nineties, she also made her debut as a director, and later as a producer and screenwriter, and as a result, almost completely abandoned the profession of an actress. Kearns has directed about fifty episodes of various television series during her career.
