Born January 15, 1968 - American actor and television director. Lowe rose to prominence in the mid-eighties, becoming a teen idol, along with his brother Rob Lowe.
Lowe first became known for his title role in the sitcom "Spencer" (1984-1985), and then starred in a number of teen projects. From 1991 to 1993, he played the role of a teenager with AIDS in the drama series Life Goes On. In 1993, during the season in which his character dies, Lowe won an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Drama Series, making him one of the youngest male award winners. Since winning an Emmy, Lowe's career has developed mainly in television films, largely coinciding with the theme of soap operas. He has played supporting roles on Melrose Place, The Best, Now or Never, Ambulance and 24 Hours. Since 2010, he has played the role of the main character's father in the series Pretty Little Liars. Lowe was married to Hilary Swank from 1997 to 2007. In 2000, when Swank won her first Oscar, there was long discussion in the press how she forgot to mention her husband in her speech when receiving the award. On August 28, 2010, he married producer Kim Painter. The couple have three daughters: Mabel Painter Lowe (born May 16, 2009), Fiona Hepler Lowe (born November 15, 2012) and Nixie Barbara Lowe (born March 18, 2016).
