Born September 21, 1960 - American actor of Canadian descent. He dropped out of Milton High School in his final year and decided to become a rock star at nineteen. When his plans did not materialize, he returned to school and received an education. He later graduated from Ryerson University in Toronto.
He moved to Los Angeles and took the stage name David James Elliott, due to the fact that there was already an actor named David Smith. In 1986, he made his screen debut with a small role in Police Academy 3: Back to the Academy, and then landed a role in the popular television series of the time, Silent Landing. In the early nineties, he appeared on TV shows such as Melrose Place and Seinfeld. In 1992 he married actress Nancy Chambers and they have two children. In 1995, Elliot landed the role of Harmon Rabb on the television series Military Legal Service, which he performed for the next ten years. Then he appeared in the TV series "Near the house" (2005-2007). In 2010, he starred in the short-lived TV series Fraudsters with Virginia Madsen, replacing Neil McDonough, who refused to appear nude in the series. He then appeared on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation New York. In 2012, Elliot landed the role of the heroine's husband Christine Chenoweth on the ABC series "Godly Bitch" .
In 2015, Elliot played John Wayne in the movie Trumbo.
