Born January 16, 1980, New York is an American composer, singer, actor, composer and screenwriter.

From childhood, the future Pulitzer owner was accustomed to music in the house, especially the sounds of Broadway musicals. He attended elementary and high schools at Hunter College, after which he entered Wesleyan University.

In 1999, in her sophomore year at University, Miranda writes the first trial version of her upcoming hit "On the Heights". While working, he incorporated hip-hop numbers and salsa rhythms into it, which conveyed the character of the characters. His musical is being accepted for staging at the student theater, where he broke the box office record for the year. After that, during his studies, Miranda staged several more musicals, and also played in a wide range of roles - from musical productions to Shakespeare's plays. He graduated from Wesleyan University in 2002.

Immediately after that, he teams up with former fellow students journalist John Buffalo Mailer and director Thomas Kyle and begins reworking On the Heights. The play went through no less than five preliminary readings before being staged at the 37 Arts off-Broadway theater. The performance ran from January to July 2008 and became an absolute triumph for the Outer Critics Circle Award, as well as two Drama Desk and one Obie awards. For himself, Lin-Manuel Miranda won the Theater World Award (the award is given for the best debut on a Broadway or off-Broadway stage). This ensured the production of a Broadway start in 2008, which took place at the Richard Rogers Theater. The production was nominated for 13 Tony Awards and won 4 of them, including Best Musical and Best Screenplay. Miranda was nominated for Best Actor in a Musical. In 2009, Miranda won the Grammy for Best Album in Musical Theater.

On the Heights was not Miranda's only project at the time. In 2007, he guest-starred on an episode of The Sopranos TV series. In 2009 and 2010 he can be seen in two episodes of the sixth season of the TV series "House" - "Broken" and "Baggage". Also in 2009, he worked closely with Stephen Sondheim to write Spanish lyrics for the revived Broadway production of West Side Story.

In 2011, Miranda collaborates with Tom Kitt and Amanda Green on the musical Bring It On. The play was a limited show on Broadway in 2012 and was subsequently nominated for a Tony for Best New Musical and Best Choreography.

In 2011, Miranda appears in an episode of the American Family television series, and in 2013, she gets a supporting role in the quickly taken off air series Do No Harm. Also in 2013, Miranda guest starred on the Bedtime Stories episode of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother.

In March 2014, Disney hires Miranda and Mark Manchina to write songs for the upcoming 2016 cartoon Moana. For two and a half years, the authors of words and music have been creating the soundtrack for a cartoon about a Polynesian girl. Miranda had no plans to record for the disc, but his demo version of the song We Know the Way was included in the final soundtrack.
