Born March 15, 1955 - American rock musician, actor, producer and screenwriter.
As a child, he sang in the church and school choirs, was selected to the state choir. He took the name "Dee" back in high school.
In 1976, Snyder joined the group Twisted Sister, founded by JJ French, which then specialized in glam rock covers. Dee Snyder turned out to be not only an excellent frontman, but also a talented composer. Snyder took over the band, wrote most of the songs, and quickly brought Twisted Sister to the forefront of the local scene. At concerts, Dee Snyder used frightening masks and pyrotechnics, actively used make-up and fancy dress. The music of "Twisted Sister" combined sexually provocative lyrics, largely aimed at teenagers, and deaf choirs with hard, metal rock'n'roll. In 1984, Dee Snyder successfully spoke to the Parents Music Resource Center, a parental control organization for US popular culture, to defend his music against suspicion of incitement to violence. After Twisted Sister disbanded in 1987, Snyder co-founded Desperado with ex-Gillan guitarist Bernie Torm, and later founded Widowmaker, but both of these groups proved to be short-lived. In 1997, the Twisted Sister reunited with their former lineup.
Subsequently, Dee Snyder was successful as a heavy metal radio DJ. In 1985, he wrote the book "Survival for adolescents" in which he explores adolescent problems, in particular, calls for quitting smoking, alcohol, drugs, unsafe sex. In 2012, Snyder released his autobiography Shut Up and Give Me the Mic .
Dee Snyder has contributed 31 films; in many of them he plays himself. Wrote the screenplay for the film Strangeland and the music for three films.
Snyder is ranked 83rd on HitParader magazine's 100 Best Metal Vocalists of All Time.
