Kim Nguyen - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips, Director, Writer, Producer.
Born 1974, Montreal, Quebec, Canada is a Canadian director, screenwriter and producer.
Received a master's degree in cinematography from the University of Montreal. Later he became interested in screenwriting and photography. Prior to his directing career, he taught cinematographic arts at the ICARI Institute and the Jean-de-Brebeuf College. He later founded his own company called Shen Studio, which allowed him to further explore digital imaging techniques.
In 1997 he shot his first short film, La route. Later he directed the films Soleil Glace and Le gant. His first feature-length film was The Quagmire, in which he also acted as a screenwriter. The film received positive reviews from critics and was nominated for the Jutra Awards for Best Film and Best Director.
In 2008, Kim Nguyen directed the fantastic drama Truffles. The film was screened at the Fantasia Film International Festival in Montreal.
The next work of the director was the film "Foreign Legion". The film received negative reviews from critics and did not find the desired success.
“The film was shot by companies from Switzerland and Tunisia. Too many different people took part in it, each of whom had their own point of view on our project. This is probably why the film lacked integrity.
I take responsibility for this failure - after all, I am the director of the film and I have to take care of the final result. Perhaps, I was required to show more rigidity on the site - but it turned out the way it happened. For me personally, Foreign Legion remains an important milestone in my career as it allows me to learn an important lesson from failure. "
In 2012, Nguyen directed the film "The Witch of War", which won the "Ecumenical (Christian) Jury Prize - Special Mention" at the Berlin Film Festival.
