For the first thirty years of her life, Phyllis was an ordinary married housewife and mother of five living in a small town in Michigan. She first appeared on television in the early 1950s in The Jack Paar Show and shortly thereafter appeared on the Groucho Marks comedy show. After moving to Alameda, California, Phyllis began performing at the legendary The Purple Onion in San Francisco, where she first showed her talent as a comedian. The Phyllis gained public attention in the early 1960s when she appeared alongside Bob Hope in several television comedy shows and three comedy films. Despite the fact that the films flopped at the box office, Hope invited Dealer to perform with him in Vietnam, where there was a military conflict at the time. After that, she returned to television, where she became a frequent guest on many television shows, and in 1967 she was awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Actress. On television, Dealer became the creator of the image of a housewife, poorly haired, usually in a short dress and often smoking a cigarette through a mouthpiece. Phyllis has also made numerous appearances in Broadway productions, as well as voicing cartoons, including The Nutcracker Prince (1990), Snow White II: Phyllis never hid the fact that she often resorted to the services of plastic surgeons. She performed her first operation at the age of 55, and since then she has repeated fifteen more times.
