Born December 28, 1932, Robbins, Illinois, USA - American actress, singer and voice actor. Prior to her acting career, she performed with Duke Ellington and Lionel Hampton. She is best known for her role as Liaison Officer Lt. Nyota Uhura aboard the Enterprise (Enterprise NCC-1701) in the hit Star Trek series, as well as in subsequent feature films, where her heroine eventually rose to the rank of Commander in Starfleet.
