Born April 4, 1925, Cleveland, Ohio, USA - American actor, director, producer and screenwriter.
The future filmmaker spent his childhood in Detroit. For the first time on the screen, Gene appeared in the short film Washee Ironee at the age of 11, then in 1957 he first tried himself as a director, a year later - as a screenwriter, and since 1967 he also acted as a producer.
As a token of his directing achievements, he was elected President of the Directors Guild of America in 1993 and served in this position for four years.
