Born June 6, 1962, Tokyo is a Japanese film director, screenwriter, editor and producer.
Graduated from the Faculty of Literature at Waseda University in Tokyo and planned to become a writer, but after graduation he began working as an assistant director at TVMan Union, making documentaries. His first film, entitled "However ...", investigating the suicide of a major government official, Koreeda created in 1991. Four years later, he directed his first feature film, Light of Illusion. As of 2008, Koreeda has produced 5 full-length films that have earned wide acclaim and awards at international film festivals. The most successful feature films of Koreeda are Nobody Knows and After Life, and the latter also exists in the form of a book, in a textual presentation. In addition to directing work, Koreeda also performs production - in particular, he has produced films by Japanese directors Miwa Nishikawa and Yusuke Isei.
