Born May 23, 1986 in Auckland, California is an American film director, screenwriter and producer.
Kugler has directed four short films that have received or have been nominated for numerous awards: Locks (2009), filmed for the Tribeca Film Festival and winning the Dana and Albert Broccoli Award for Excellence in Film Production); Fig (2011), nominated for the Black Reel Awards; The Sculptor (2011) and The Gap (2011), which won the Jack Nicholson Award for Achievement in Directing.
In January 2016, Coogler directed the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Black Panther.
