Born October 17, 1954, Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire is a British screenwriter, director and producer.
Graduated from Woodleigh School in North Yorkshire, studied at Leeds Polytechnic and London National Film School.
In 1987, his comedy "See You At Wembley, Frankie Walsh" won the prestigious Student Academy Awards of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts.
The first feature film directed by the director was the comedy "The Messenger is to Blame" (1992) with Dudley Moore in the title role. Best known for his film Boy in Striped Pajamas, which won the Best European Film category at the 2009 Goya Film Awards.
