Born January 17, 1961, Providence, Rhode Island, USA - American film director, screenwriter and film producer.
Brian Helgelend became the first person in the same year (1998) to receive an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay (for Los Angeles Secrets, 1997) and a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Screenplay (for Postman ", 1997). He accepted the Golden Raspberry Award and became only the fourth person in history to personally receive the statuette.
Helgelend directed The Knight's Tale (2001) and Sin Eater (2003), in which he brought together actors Heath Ledger, Shannin Sossamon and Mark Eddy.
Brian has worked with Clint Eastwood twice: in 2002 on the script for Bloody Work; in 2003 on the script for "Mysterious River", for which he was nominated for an "Oscar", and also worked on the script for the yet unfinished adaptation of "Moby Dick".
In 2004, Helgelend contributed to the script for The Bourne Supremacy, although he was not credited.
In early 2008, Brian Helgelend joined Do Not Take Alive as a screenwriter when Tom Stoppard left the project. For this film, the writer, again after The Bourne Supremacy, collaborates with director Paul Greengrass and actor Matt Damon.
In 2009, he is working on the script for the "Dangerous Passengers of Train 123" remake starring Denzel Washington and John Travolta. In the same year, director Richard Donner mentions a second collaboration with Brian Helgeland as a screenwriter and Mel Gibson as an actor on an unnamed project.
